Warnings: Do not use WormScreen for Dogs in dogs less than 2 weeks or weighing less than 2kg. Do not use in animals that are shown to be allergic to any of the ingredients. Do not use in bitches during the first two-thirds of pregnancy. Do not use at the same time as other worming products or those that contain piperazine. Please weigh your dog, do not overdose.

How to control worms in dogs

Intestinal worms in dogs are very common and it is difficult to see if your dog has worms. Worms can be picked up from just talking your dog for a walk, other animals’ faeces or contaminated mud and soil, from grooming and ingesting fleas, also from humans entering the house, unwittingly carrying the odd flea or egg on clothing or shoes. It is important to pick up your dogs’ poo and also to wash your dog after a muddy walk.

This wormer works by killing worms that are in your dog’s gut, so to prevent worm reinfection, it is recommended to worm your dog regularly for both tape and round worms every 3 months. If your dog has access to raw carcasses, or you have children in the household, you may wish to consider worming your dog more frequently as every month.

Worms in puppies can make them very ill and unable to grow and thrive properly. They are more vulnerable to worms due to their young immune system and can have them passed to them through their mothers’ milk. It’s for these reasons that it’s important to worm puppies from 2 weeks of age regularly every 2 weeks until 12 weeks of age. From 3-6 months, puppies should be wormed monthly and then at least every 3 months for the rest of their life. Pregnant bitches should be wormed carefully in the last third of their pregnancy then, at the same time as her puppies 2 weeks after their birth. Worming should continue every 2 weeks until the puppies are 12 weeks old. After this she should be treated every 3 months or more regularly if there are other risks as above.

Controlling worms is only part of protecting your pet and your family against harmful parasites. Provide your pet with effective flea and worm treatments regularly, to combat external parasites such as fleas and internal parasites like the roundworm Toxocara canis that can be passed to humans. Regular treatments help break the lifecycles of these parasites, helping to keep your pet and your family healthy and pest free.
