FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find the right food for my cat's specific health condition or lifestage?

To shop by a specific condition or life-stage simply use the filters down the left hand side of the product list. Here you will find filter categories to make your search a lot easier.

Do I need a vet recommendation to buy prescription or veterinary diet cat foods?

NFA-VPS products do not require a prescription from a vet but they must be processed by a trained SQP. If you wish to purchase and NFA-VPS item you will be required to input a number of key information points that will be reviewed by an SQP. POM-VPS products however will require a vets prescription.

The vast majority for products available on the PDSA Pet Store are AVM-GSL and require no further clarifications.

Are flea and worming treatments for cats safe to use alongside supplements or grooming products?

This would entirely depend on the specific product in mind. Most treatments do not have adverse effects when used along side other supplements but this should not be taken for granted. If you are unsure always consult your vet.

Are the toys in this section suitable for indoor cats, or are some designed for outdoor use?

Most cat toys are designed for both outdoor and indoor cats. A product will specifically states it is for one but not the other in most cases otherwise it is safe to assume it is designed for both.

What's the difference between wet and dry cat food, and which is better for my cat?

Both wet and dry cat food diets are equally appropriate for most cats. The contents of the food is where there would be differences which varies from product to product. However, if for example your cat suffers from dental or gum issues then a wet food diet may be more appropriate to ease eating pain.

These specific cases should be for a vet to hear and make a recommendation however.
