The ROYAL CANIN® Gastrointestinal Tract range is designed to support dogs with diverse digestive tract disorders, including liver conditions. For dogs that suffer with liver disease - such as chronic liver insufficiency - a tailored hepatic diet for dogs that contains supportive nutrients can help to support liver function.
Copper accumulation can happen in some liver diseases, this food helps to minimise copper accumulation in your dog's liver. ROYAL CANIN® Hepatic dry dog food contains specifically adapted levels of high-quality proteins to support liver function.
ROYAL CANIN® Hepatic dog food is suitable for dogs with:
- Chronic hepatitis associated with liver dysfunction
- Portosystemic shunt
- Hepatic encephalopathy
- Copper storage disease
Please note: ROYAL CANIN® Hepatic dry dog food is not suitable for pancreatitis or history of pancreatitis, hyperlipidaemia, acute hepatitis without hepatic encephalopathy, growth, gestation, or lactation.

Feeding Instructions: As part of the ROYAL CANIN® Veterinary Health Nutrition range, it is important that this product is only given to your pet when recommended by a veterinary professional. Transitioning your pet from one diet to another should be a smooth and gradual process over a 7–10 day period. Please ensure you follow the correct rationing amount, especially when mixed feeding. To cater to each dog’s individual preferences, ROYAL CANIN® Hepatic is also available as wet food in our loaf texture.
It is recommended that a veterinarian's opinion be sought before use and before extending the period of use. Feed this diet initially up to 4 months for the support of liver function in the case of chronic liver insufficiency and initially up to 6 months for the reduction of copper in the liver.
